While living in Amsterdam, I often visited the Waterloo flea market for odds and ends. On the far edge I came across an old couple selling all manner of paper memorabilia, photos, labels, maps and old letters. I fell in love with a few labels from an old store on the same canal I lived on - Prinsengracht. They must have been for Dutch and Belgian or maybe French distribution, since most of the labels are in French. A glorious upcycling opportunity!Sometime last year, I realized I was saving stamps. I came across a couple that were eye catching and calling out to be upcycled. Now paper treasures catch my eye wherever I go... fruit labels, vintage postcards, old advertisements, stamps... all snapshots of moments in time transformed into wearable art.
